What to expect at a Queer Futures Glos youth groupOur Queer Futures Glos youth social group (13-18) is a space where you can be yourself without pressure or judgement. We meet every other Saturday in the centre of Glos. You can expect a warm welcome, supportive youth workers, and other young people who understand what it is like to explore identity, relationships, and wellbeing. Sessions usually include activities, conversations, trips, creative projects, and time to relax. You do not have to share anything you are not ready to share. You can come along quietly at first, or jump straight in. We will not put you under any pressure.

Queer Futures Gloucestershire (formerly GayGlos Youth) began in 2012 and has grown into a supportive community for LGBTQ+ young people aged 14 to 18.
Our sessions offer safe, welcoming spaces where young people can meet others, explore their identity and build confidence. We recognise that everyone has different needs, so we provide a mix of group activities, quieter spaces and opportunities for one‑to‑one support. Our focus is on belonging, wellbeing and connection, helping young people feel supported at home, at school and in their wider communities.

Our sessions offer a combination of focused activities and more relaxed, social time. We know that young people have different needs, so each session includes options such as group activities, quieter spaces, and opportunities for one‑to‑one support.
In recent years, sessions have included:
-
LGBTQ+ History
-
Cooking on a Budget
-
Healthy Relationships
-
Drag
-
Cyber Safety
-
Sexual Health and Wellbeing
-
Christmas Party
-
Politics and LGBTQ+ Rights
-
Arts and Crafts
-
Coming Out Stories
The group has also taken part in a range of trips and outings, which add variety, fun and new experiences to the programme.
Recent trips have included:
-
Prides in Gloucestershire and further afield
-
Our annual residential
-
Bowling
-
Ice skating
-
Meals out together
These shared experiences help young people build friendships, confidence and a sense of belonging beyond the weekly sessions.

The group meets fortnightly on alternate Saturdays throughout the year, including during school holidays, from 11:45 to 3 pm.
Our sessions are youth-led, which means the young people themselves help shape what we do, how we spend our time and what topics we explore. We listen to their ideas, interests and needs, and build the programme around what feels most useful, supportive and enjoyable for them.
Young people are encouraged to talk about the things that matter to them and to share experiences or ideas for dealing with challenges in their lives, whether at home, in school or in their wider communities. Our aim is to create a space where everyone feels heard, supported and able to explore what they need at their own pace.
