Queer Futures Gloucestershire (QFG) is a small charity doing important work across the county. For more than 30 years, we have been here for LGBTQ+ people and those close to them, often at moments when support really matters. Our work is about connection, education, safety and knowing you are not on your own.

Our Vision
We imagine a Gloucestershire where LGBTQIA+ and queer people, whatever their age, background or identity, are safe, accepted and able to thrive. A county where differences are celebrated, inclusive communities flourish, and no one ever feels alone or unsafe because of who they are.
We work towards a future where:
-
Queer young people grow up with support, belonging and self-esteem
-
Families and allies understand, accept and celebrate their loved ones
-
Schools, workplaces and public services are inclusive, affirming and responsive
-
Society confronts and dismantles discrimination, hate and inequality
-
Each generation carries forward a stronger, kinder and more inclusive community, building truly Queer Futures
Why We Exist
Being LGBTQ+ can still be isolating, especially for young people. People come to QFG for many reasons.
Some are figuring out who they are.
Some are parents wanting to support their child better.
Others have faced rejection, discrimination or fear and need somewhere they can simply be themselves without having to explain or justify it.
We offer that space. It is calm, welcoming and free from judgement.

What we do
Youth Support (14 to 18 years)
Our youth group is one of our most valued services. It is a gentle, affirming space where young people can meet others like them, make friends and build confidence. For many, it is the first place they have ever felt fully accepted. That sense of belonging can be life-changing.
Parents, Carers and Families
We support the people who support young people. Parents and carers often care deeply but feel unsure or overwhelmed. We offer space to talk, listen and learn, helping families stay connected, informed and supportive.
Outreach, Training and Community Work
We spend time talking with schools, professionals and local organisations. These conversations matter. They help make services safer, language kinder and systems fairer for LGBTQ+ people across Gloucestershire. Change often starts with a conversation, and we have many of them.

Powered by Volunteers
QFG is run by volunteers who show up week after week, offering time, skills and care. Some support young people, some help behind the scenes, and others sit on the board and keep things steady. Everyone is trained, supported, and DBS checked, but what really matters is that they care.

Funding and volunteering keep QFG going. Support allows us to open doors, keep spaces safe and respond when someone reaches out. It is not about big gestures. It is about being there, consistently, for people who need it.

If you fund QFG or volunteer your time, you are not backing a brand or a strategy. You are helping real people feel safer, less alone and more hopeful. That impact reaches far beyond what you might ever see on paper.
